Do snow and ice damage my dog's paws? And if so, how can I prevent it?

By nature, our dogs actually have robust paws. Strays that have grown up on the streets and in the woods have hardened paws. But what about our domestic dogs?

Every day I have paws in my hands at the dog salon, some are strong and hardened, others are soft, cracked, and sensitive. In our homes and apartments, paws are used far too little.

The cold days are approaching, and soon the heaters will be adjusted everywhere, resulting in dry air in our homes. Like our skin, the dog's skin also suffers. The paws become dry and cracked and lose their natural protection against the cold and the road salts.

Ice can "stick" to dry paws, and road salts can burn into cracked paws.

Check your dog's paws regularly. If they are dry and cracked, a paw care spray will help your four-legged friend by making the paws resistant. Just try it out!
